Cherbourg Community Legal Education Project
In the first half of 2012, Welfare Rights Centre will work with Barambah Local Indigenous Justice Group and Tenants' Union of Queensland to deliver community legal education in Cherbourg.
- The first visit took place on April 23rd and saw Welfare Rights and Tenants Union do a joint visit to meet with members of the community and appear on the local radio station.
- The second visit for Welfare Rights will be on July 10th. Welfare Rights invites all interested community members to come and join us for lunch and a conversation about how Centrelink can provide better services to communities; both locally and across the country. - Our final visit later in 2012 will deliver more formal training to the community on Centrelink issues and how to respond or advocate on some else’s behalf
